The Community Involvement Committee

The Community Involvement Committee is proud to provide member’s with a variety of opportunities to give something back to the community where they live and work. The committee has selected several charities with different focuses and needs so that members can choose the one they feel most able to assist. Please take advantage of one or more of these wonderful opportunities to be of assistance to someone in need.

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers are needed for serving approximately 250 homeless men at My Brothers Place, a facility of The Bethesda Project on the 3rd Saturday of every month. BOMA purchases the food but volunteers are needed to prepare and serve the food and clean up. CURRENT PROGRAMS

The Bethesda Project

Standing out in the cold to ask for change is not a lucrative or comfortable career choice. It is rarely, if ever, a decision someone makes consciously. Yet, each day we see hundreds of people doing just that, and we wonder what we can do to help.

It is difficult to hand out money on the street because you have no way of knowing what that money will be used for. Our trust is undermined by those who would use your charity for drugs or alcohol. So, how do we help all those who wouldn’t squander our aid without these kinds of concerns?

The Bethesda Project provides an excellent alternative to these doubts. As a major force in Philadelphia’s nationally recognized homeless assistance programs, the Bethesda project provides food, clothing and shelter to hundreds of homeless individual’s everyday. It also provides you with a safe meaningful way to donate your time or money.

Volunteers will be needed beginning in September to serve lunch to approximately 200 homeless men. My Brothers House is located at 9th & Hamilton in Philadelphia (around the corner from the Spaghetti Warehouse). BOMA will purchase the food but volunteers are needed to serve.

Penny Drive

Each holiday season participating buildings place a container in their lobbies or reception areas for the collection of coins that benefit charities. BOMA provides labels and collects the containers at the end of the fund raising efforts. The buildings and their tenants provide the generosity that makes this program a success.

The recipients are  Philabundance and The Bethesda Project.

Toys for Tots

Toys for Tots is a Marine run program that provides holiday gifts for underprivelaged children. Each year BOMA members bring a toy to the annual BOMA Philadelphia Holiday Party.

In light of BOMA’s dedication to buildings we thought it would be fitting to do some building ourselves. Keep an eye on this page for an opportunity to be involved in one of the most rewarding charitable programs in existence. When volunteer opportunities become available, we’ll let you know.
