Answers to Questions about Tax Laws
The Department of Revenue has committed resources to respond to inquiries involving state tax laws. Revenue legal rulings are considered binding on the department up to five years unless revoked. Actual factual circumstances, including the name of the taxpayer, are required in the request for a private ruling letter. Nonbinding advisory opinions are issued when these facts are not provided.
