Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA), the longest-running and largest Ukrainian women’s organization in the US. Our mission is to promote and develop educational and cultural efforts and provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians worldwide. UNWLA members across the country are reaching out to their local officials to request that prominent landmarks be illuminated in blue and yellow lights to mark Ukraine's Independence Day, August 24, 2025. Greater Philadelphia/South Jersey is home to the largest Ukrainian-American population per-capita (including many UNWLA members), and we have the longest history of Ukrainian settlement in the new world. Given the prominence of these buildings on the Philadelphia skyline, their lighting in support of Ukraine would be especially meaningful to our community.
