5th Annual Rami's Heart Lighting Ceremony - LIGHT UP YELLOW

This event holds immense significance as it marks both the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in our nation and the first few deaths in our nation. The 5th Annual Lighting Ceremony is a solemn occasion where hundreds of families impacted by the pandemic come together to remember their loved ones. Some travel across the USA to stand together. We gather to commemorate those who lost their lives during this challenging time and to honor the essential heroes who tirelessly worked to save others. As we light lanterns to represent the more than 1.2 million American lives lost, we create a beacon of hope and remembrance. This year, our event has a global reach. American Heart Month - National Wear RED Day!

February marks the start of American Heart Month, and in just four weeks – on Friday, February 7 – we will celebrate National Wear Red Day! This year, we invite you to join us in a powerful and visually striking campaign to raise awareness about heart disease by lighting up Philadelphia buildings in RED. (Feel free to wear red and encourage your colleagues to wear red that day, too!)

Why Go RED?

  • Cardiovascular diseases are the No. 1 killer of women across the United States, including right here in Philadelphia and in South Jersey.

  • One in three women dies from cardiovascular diseases, a statistic that is eight times higher than breast cancer. Yet, many women still do not recognize their risk.

  • Immediate help is crucial: Only about 40% of people who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) receive the immediate help they need before professional help arrives. According to 2023 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics, among the over 356,000 OHCAs that occurred, only 40.2% received bystander CPR.
