International Angelman Day - LIGHT UP BLUE/MAGENTA/YELLOW/GREEN
International Angelman Day (IAD) is an annual event held on February 15th and observed by over 50 charitable/support organizations based in over 40 countries around the world. People with AS have intellectual, developmental, and physical impairment, struggling to walk and often suffering debilitating seizures - AS has no cure.
Awareness efforts, such a lighting architecture and buildings, in honor of International Angelman Day increases public knowledge of the conditions, builds inclusion and understanding, and most importantly spreads the message that the global collective of Angelman syndrome organizations is working tirelessly to bring practical treatments to Angelman syndrome as quickly as possible.
MMN Awareness Month - LIGHT UP ORANGE
The GBS | CIDP Foundation International is a global nonprofit organization supporting individuals and their families affected by Guillain-Barre’ syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN) and related conditions through a commitment to support, education, research and advocacy.
February is MMN (Multifocal Motor Neuropathy) awareness month and in honor of this ultra rare autoimmune disorder, we are requesting that the Philadelphia skyline shine orange for our patients to see they are not alone and to raise awareness for this rare condition!
Rare Disease Day "Light UP for Rare" - LIGHT UP ORANGE/BLUE/PURPLE
CureGrin (Gri disorders - GRIA, GRID, GRIK, GRIN) are just a small part of diseases classified as a Rare Disease. Rare Diseases, are a small fraction of diseases however, impacting over millions. Often called the Orphan Diseases because so many are just not aware of them. These are diseases that diagnosis are difficult and lengthy, very few treatments exist, and continued information hard to obtain. " Light Up for Rare" would most definitely bring strong (and much-needed) awareness for the rare disease community.
Kidney Cancer Awareness Month - LIGHT UP ORANGE
During Kidney Cancer Awareness Month, the Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) encourages everyone to #OrangeUp and honor those impacted by kidney cancer. Over 600,000 people live with kidney cancer and thousands of new cases will be diagnosed this year. In March, the KCA celebrates the collective efforts of patients, families, healthcare professionals, and anyone who advocates to move the needle in kidney cancer.

World Periodic Paralysis Day - LIGHT UP TEAL/BLUE
World Periodic Paralysis Day is observed annually on March 23 and was founded by the Periodic Paralysis Association. This global awareness day brings together patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and advocates to raise awareness of Periodic Paralysis (PP), share lived experiences, inspire hope, and advance meaningful change for this rare neuromuscular condition. Each year since 1943, March is proclaimed as Red Cross Month, and highlights the organization's role in collecting and distributing lifesaving blood, providing disaster relief and supporting military families and veterans. World Bronchiectasis Day - LIGHT UP BLUE
Bronchiectasis (BE) is a chronic lung disease characterized by enlarged airways that are thickened and/or scarred. These permanently widened airways lead to a buildup of mucus and impaired clearance of bacteria from the lungs. Between 340,000 and 522,000 adults are receiving treatment in the U.S.
This year, the Association is illuminating buildings and bridges in blue, in our “BE the Light” campaign for World Bronchiectasis Day.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities - LIGHT UP PURPLE
#PositivelyPurple is a global movement that celebrates and draws attention to the contribution of employees with disabilities around the world. PurpleSpace have been leading this movement since 2017 as a mark of respect to the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) held annually on 3rd December. U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week - LIGHT UP PURPLE
This November, buildings and landmarks around the U.S. will 'Go Purple' in support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week campaign, which the Philadelphia Department of Public Health promotes on a local level. Last year, many buildings in Philadelphia went purple for USAAW. The goal of this campaign is to raise awareness about the threat antibiotic resistance poses to human health and to promote appropriate antibiotic use. Should our request be accepted, we will reach out with social media tags in September once they are released by CDC.

Occipital Neuralgia Awareness Day
October 25th is the annual awareness day for Occipital Neuralgia. Occipital Neuralgia (ON) is a chronic nerve pain condition resulting from irritation or inflammation to the nerves that lie in the back of the head, oftentimes brought on by a concussion or whiplash injury. The annual ON Awareness Day has proven to be the best way to spread the word surrounding Occipital Neuralgia. We hope these teal landmarks will serve as visual cues to encourage conversation surrounding ON.

Alopecia is an auto-immune disease that causes hair loss and impacts >2% of the population. There are physical and psychological impacts to losing one’s hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, etc. Philadelphia is a flagship site for the Walk for Alopecia on September 27 (there are almost 30 other Walk sites across the US but only two flagship sites). Ukrainian Independence Day - LIGHT UP BLUE & YELLOW
Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA), the longest-running and largest Ukrainian women’s organization in the US. Our mission is to promote and develop educational and cultural efforts and provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians worldwide. UNWLA members across the country are reaching out to their local officials to request that prominent landmarks be illuminated in blue and yellow lights to mark Ukraine's Independence Day, August 24, 2025. Greater Philadelphia/South Jersey is home to the largest Ukrainian-American population per-capita (including many UNWLA members), and we have the longest history of Ukrainian settlement in the new world. Given the prominence of these buildings on the Philadelphia skyline, their lighting in support of Ukraine would be especially meaningful to our community.
