Sickle Cell Awareness Month - LIGHT UP RED!

  • BOMA Philadelphia 1515 Market Street Philadelphia, PA, 19102 United States (map)

September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing public understanding of sickle cell disease and showing support for the individuals and families affected by this inherited blood disorder.

In recognition of this important month, the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter invites your company to illuminate your building or landmark in red on or before Saturday, September 26, 2026, in conjunction with our 28th Annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Run named in memory of my late husband who passed away from complications of sickle cell disease.

The event will take place across from the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia and will bring together individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease, healthcare providers, community partners, advocates, and supporters for a powerful morning of awareness, remembrance, and hope.

Lighting your building red would be a meaningful demonstration of solidarity with the sickle cell community and would help bring greater visibility to sickle cell disease throughout Philadelphia.
