Shine the Light on Sickle Cell - LIGHT UP RED!

  • BOMA Philadelphia 1515 Market Street Philadelphia, PA, 19102 United States (map)

This is the 7th year that SiNERGe (the Sickle Cell Improvement in the Northeast Region through Education) will run its Shine the Light on Sickle Cell campaign that features the illumination of buildings and landmarks in red (the color of the blood cell) on/around World Sickle Cell Awareness Day, which is June 19 as set by the United Nations. Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic blood disorder that disproportionately affects individuals of African descent yet remains widely misunderstood and underrepresented in public discourse. Shine the Light on Sickle Cell is an awareness campaign to show support of sickle cell warriors, raise awareness for sickle cell disease, and advocate for a universal cure.
